The Gateway PGA Junior Golf Leader Award recognizes the PGA Professional who is a leader in junior golf and who reflects the ideals of those who work with youth.
Junior Golf Leader Award Guidelines:
·Demonstration of involvement in the promotion and development of junior golf at the club level.
·Support of Sectional/National junior golf programs.
·Proven interest, concern and ability to provide opportunities and experience for juniors to learn and play golf.
·Recognized as someone of outstanding character.
Junior Golf Leader Award Criteria:
1. Criteria to Measure
a.Involvement in the promotion and development of junior golf at the club level and within the community.
b.Support of the Gateway PGA Junior Golf Programs including Gateway Junior Tournament, Foundation In-School Program, Play Golf America, and/or other Junior Golf effort.
c.Overall image, service and leadership in the junior golf arena.
d.Overall integrity as an individual and acceptance by junior golfers as a person of outstanding character.
2. Selection Process
a.Nomination should be based on a candidate’s entire past experience and commitment for continuing one’s contributions and assistance.
b.Achievements during the past five years should be emphasized.
c.Gateway Awards Committee will select a recipient based on the criteria.
3. Ineligible Categories
a.Last Year Junior Golf Leader Award winner – Jack Connell
b.Current members of the PGA Board of Directors
c.Class “F” and “Inactive” members
d.Apprentices
e.PGA National Headquarters staff and PGA Section staff
Other Considerations
