2011 Missouri Golf Day

25 Gateway PGA Professionals joined Missouri Governor, Jay Nixon, PGA of America CEO, Joe Steranka, Gateway PGA Foundation President, Ozzie Smith, and USGA Regional Director, Mark Passey to launch the first ever Missouri Golf Day. Media outlets throughout Missouri and the country covered the event and helped us in our effort to recognize golf as one of the largest economic drivers in the state of Missouri. October 11th served as an incredible day for elevating the standards of Gateway PGA Professionals and the game of golf in our area. Golf in Missouri employs 21,000 jobs and has a direct economic benefit of $888.6 million. Golf revenues represent ¾ of the combined revenues of all other major spectator sports combined (football, baseball, hockey, auto racing, horse racing, soccer, etc..) The state of Missouri and the Department of Tourism were moved by the impact that the game of golf has on Missouri. Below, please find audio clips and a few of the articles written about Missouri Golf Day.
